Nexbooks supports personalized learning

Yesterday, I was social-distance chatting with some friends about self-paced learning (hey, we were bored).  My story was simple; we all took math classes and most of us struggled.  Why?  A big reason is that math lessons build on one another.  In traditional classrooms, you receive instruction and take a test.  If you don’t do well on the test, it usually means that you didn’t completely get the material.  So, you start the next lesson in a hole, and so on, and so on.  What if there was a way to master the lesson before proceeding to the next?  Well, we all know that there is!    Call it self-paced learning, or personalized learning, everyone in my group laughed and they remarked how much sense this makes.

Nexbooks’ self-paced, video courses are perfect enablers for this personalized learning methodology.  Kids learn at their own pace, and don’t get left behind.  As a component of blended instruction combining face-to-face teaching, technology-assisted instruction and student-to-student collaboration, it’s a no-brainer for many.

Though everyone is eager to put this pandemic behind us, with every challenge comes an opportunity.  Perhaps one opportunity to come out of this is to take the time and examine some of the fundamental truths of K-12 education.  Is the goal of school to produce a bell curve of learning, where some students excel, most don’t, and some simply fail?  Or is it to maximize the potential of every kid?

We beg you to investigate self-paced curricula for a personalized learning environment.  Your kids will thank you.
